Quoddy Bay Lobster, ’nuff said!

Spirits seem to rise all over town when this little gem of an eatery opens for the season in early May. And why wouldn’t they. From downtown Water street it is just a short stroll down Sea Street to get one of the best lobster rolls Downeast. Combined with a cup of their unbelievable seafood chowder and a wicked-good water view and you’ve got the perfect way to enjoy lunch time. Don’t be surprised to see lots of waving and greeting as folks around town exchange news in between bites.

The Eastport Gallery Opens with the works of Arthur Cadieux

Born in Belfast, Maine, Arthur considers himself a Downeast Expressionist and many of his paintings do reflect coastal subject matter. However, the great body of his work includes portraits, figures, landscapes, and cityscapes from everywhere Arthur has lived, but it’s the expressionist facet of his work that those who are drawn to his pieces most appreciate. The heightened color and an unmistakable rhythm are riveting and one can almost hear the music that Arthur dances to as he paints.

The Eastport Gallery Opens for the 2012 Season

The Eastport Gallery opens its 26th season on June 9th with a roster of 30 artists. Included this year are Dominic Noe of Eastport and Sharon Mack of Machias, whose work was accepted from among six applicants juried by the membership at the May meeting.

The Milliken House Bed & Breakfast

Named for its builder, Benjamin Milliken, this stunning 1846 home has numerous original features such as marble fireplaces and plaster moldings in the double living room. Large spaces, high ceilings, an impressive number of antiques, and period inspired wallpaper, velvet drapes and artwork will transport you to a luxurious period of fine living. The atmosphere extends into the five guest rooms on the two upper floors also populated by beautiful antiques and where modifications to provide private bath accommodations have been minimal.

Liberty Cafe – Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Great Food

One of Merriam-Webster’s definitions for ‘liberty’ is the power of choice. If you visit Eastport, you need to exercise that power by eating at least once at the Liberty Cafe. Located in the old Berman Mall building on Water Street in downtown Eastport, this little cafe is making quite a name for itself. If you don’t think you can get authentic Greek food Downeast, think again. Having only just opened in early summer 2011, there is already a loyal following among locals as well as becoming a favorite of visitors to this seaside city.

Dastardly Dick’s Wicked Good Coffee

Every town needs a place where you can find a great cup of coffee and Eastport has its own in Dastardly Dick’s. Found in the midst of shops and eateries on Water Street, you can certainly bare witness to the goings on in this part of town from a comfortable stool, sipping your joe (or tea), basking in the morning light streaming in the front picture windows.
