Art Quilt Show by Gail McGlamery Opens at Eastport Breakwater Gallery
For those interested in textiles and the intersection of fiber and art, mark your calendar for the newest art show entitled Vivid: Expressions in Cloth at Eastport’s Breakwater Gallery beginning Friday, August 17th. The show opens with a reception from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with Gail McGlamery on hand to introduce her art quilts, meet attendees, and answer questions about her work.
Eastport Kitchen Garden Tour Set for August 19
Six Eastport kitchen gardens will be open to the public on Sunday, August 19, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The rain date is set for Sunday, August 26, with the same time. The Eastport Kitchen Garden Tour has been coordinated by area gardeners who enjoy growing some of their own food for all sorts of reasons.

Eastport Gallery Announces A New Show by Lubec artist, Sherry Ashby Cunningham
A new one-person show opens at the Eastport Gallery on August 20th entitled “Women in the Woods,” by Lubec artist Sherry Ashby Cunningham. The artist will present works in oil and prints of hand-pulled wood-cuts revealing a very personal view of her world.
Take a Hike – The Good Kind – At Shackford Head State Park
When you need to work off some of those lobster rolls served up by Quoddy Bay Lobster or feel especially energized after a solid night’s sleep at The Kilby House, head over to Shackford Head State Park on the southwest side of Moose Island for some excellent hiking. Weighing in at 90 acres, this little gem of a park may be on the small side but makes up for it with lots of miles of family-friendly trails connecting beaches to hill peaks through dappled forests.
Award Winning Artist, Joanne Houlsen, To Open at Eastport Gallery
New Works by award winning artist Joanne Houlsen will open August 6th at the Eastport Gallery. Houlsen, a 15 year member of the Gallery, will present works in oil with a concentration on the architectural features of the Eastport landscape. Well acquainted with the city, Joanne spends a good deal of time here each year photographing its structures and landscapes, evaluating their light and shadow, then translating them into beautiful paintings rendered in contemporary realism.

Eastport Gallery Announces Exhibition of Photographer, Gary Guisinger
For the first time at the Eastport Gallery well-known photographer Gary Guisinger opens a one person show entitled “8×10+1” on July 23rd. Guisinger, whose work has long been known in Washington County, is showing his hauntingly beautiful black and white photos, a dramatic departure from his editorial work with the New York Times, Associate Press, and National Geographic.
